Works Ministry receives delegation from Saudi Development Fund

Manama:  delegation from the Saudi Development Fund yesterday visited the construction sites of the new schools, funded by them as part of the Gulf Development Programme, to take stock of the progress of the works.

The Assistant Unders-ecretary for Construction Projects and Maintenance at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Mona Al Motawa, received the delegation.  The project is designed and supervised by the Works Ministry.

The meeting was attended by the Construction Projects Director, Wadeea Marzooq, representatives from the Finance Ministry and a number of engineers from the Ministry’s Works Affairs.

Welcoming the delegation, Al Motawa commended the bilateral relations between the two Kingdoms, especially those related to infrastructure projects.

The meeting shed light on implementation phases at the five schools funded by the Saudi Development Fund and the progress achieved in the schools: Busaiteen Intermediate School for Girls, Isa Town Elementary/Intermediate School for Boys, Hunainiya Secondary School for Boys, Hamad Town Intermediate School for Boys and Malkiya Intermediate School for Girls.

Al Motawa explained that all five schools aim to realise development objectives in the Kingdom of Bahrain, therefore achieving sustainability in education services and providing a school seat for all students.

“The Construction Projects Directorate at the Ministry has ensured that the schools designs are compatible to the modern requirements of the Ministry of Education. Besides, green buildings specifications have been applied at all schools. This is to save energy, use environment-friendly elements and provide all facilitations for the students with special needs,” the official added.

The delegation was later taken on a tour to the schools, where they received a detailed explanation about each one of the schools. On the occasion, the delegation commended the quality and design of the schools.
