Minister says austerity not a hurdle for recruitment

Manama: Minister of Labour and Social Development Jameel Humaidan affirmed that the austerity measures being adopted by the private sector companies as well as the government entities wouldn’t have any effect on the recruitment process.

The drop of oil prices pushed most of the local companies as well as the government to take cost-cutting approach as well as freeze recruiting new employees.

But Humaidan, on an optimistic note, informed that his Ministry will continue to launch initiative and projects aimed at providing new employment opportunities to Bahraini citizens to maintain the recruitment pace.

The Minister stressed that there were no links between reducing the foreign employees and decreasing the percentage of unemployed Bahrainis.

He pointed out that the Ministry is targeting to enhance the outputs of the Bahrainis so they become the first choice to fill available vacancies.

Humaidan revealed that the Ministry had launched a new project with the target to recruit 15,000 Bahraini within three years, between 2016 and 2018.
