Woman gets jail for posts obscene images online
Manama: The Lower Criminal Court sentenced a Bahraini woman to six months behind bars for creating fake online accounts in the name of a fellow countryman.
The victim filed a complaint to the police station after people informed him about his online accounts, where pornography images were posted.
“People contacted me and blamed me for posting obscene images. The accounts were on social media app Snap Chat. My name and phone number was used for signing up the accounts,” the Bahraini man said.
The case was referred to the Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security Directorate to identify the culprit. It was found later that the woman was behind the crime. She said that she got the victim’s name and mobile number from smartphones app NumberBook.
