Boost to Bahrain-India ties

Manama : The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) will actively promote Bahrain-India ties through exhibitions and trade shows, said Ahlam Janahi, BCCI Board Member and Head of the Promotions, Exhibitions and Conferences committee yesterday.

Janahi met Indian Amba-ssador Alok Kumar Sinha to take forward her discussions with officials of FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM, the umbrella organisations of the various chambers of commerce in India.

She said that BCCI was keen to support a Bahrain- India Week in the Kingdom, which would be organised later in the year by PRM Marketing Consultancy.

“We want to focus on Indian industries and companies that will support the vision for Bahrain’s growth as set out by our leadership,” said Janahi.

“Over the past five years, there have been many landmark developments in Bahrain-India relations such as the historic visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to India.”

“During these visits, there were many discussions and MoUs signed to further the economic ties between the two countries. The time has come to take forward this potential between the two countries and translate it into reality,” she suggested.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Sinha expressed his support of the project. He said the Embassy of India would be keen to encourage Bahraini businesses to look at new product lines and service options in India and also get Indian companies to tie up with Bahraini companies.

Janahi also gifted the ambassador a set of Bahraini coins as a token of BCCI’s appreciation.
