Traffic safety urged for Iftar meal distributors

Manama: Director of Traffic Culture of the General Directorate of Traffic Lieutenant Colonel Osama Bahar yesterday called upon the distributors of fast-breaking (Iftar) meals among drivers to follow safety norms,. This includes appropriate age of the distributors and full awareness of the changes in traffic flow.

“They have to wear light clothes and choose secure and open locations near junctions. The distributors should be divided into groups to regulate the distribution and each group should have a leader. The distributors should also coordinate with traffic patrols,” he explained in a statement issued by the Interior Ministry.

Lauding the initiatives of a number of charity organisations of distributing Iftar meals among drivers, he remarked that such initiative reduces traffic accidents that are caused by over speeding or violating red signals. “Statistics show that many accidents occurred before Iftar,” he added.

The Director said the initiative represents dedication of Bahrainis to promote community partnership in limiting traffic accidents. He called upon all road users to be cautious to ensure the safety of the meal distributors.
