Filipino community marks Independence Day
Manama: The Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community in the Kingdom of Bahrain celebrated the 118th Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence yesterday at the Philippine Embassy grounds. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Kalayaan 2016: Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong.”
The celebrations began with a flag-raising ceremony by Philippine Ambassador Alfonso A Ver. It was followed by the reading of messages of top Philippine government officials to the people as well as speeches from selected Filipino community leaders.
Breakfast was served after the programme.
Cultural Officer and Attaché Jeannie F. Petrola-Ocampo also attended the event.
Leadership congratulates Philippines president
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated Philippines President Benigno Akino III on his country’s Independence Day.
They wished the Filipino people further progress and prosperity, lauding the amicable bilateral ties and wishing further growth and development of these ties in all fields.
