Drug consumption man gets jail
Manama: The Lower Criminal Court has sentenced a young Bahraini man to one year in prison for consuming heroin.
The 31-year-old was sent for trial after he was spotted unconscious at his residence along with his friend. They both fainted due to a heroin overdose, but his friend was later declared dead.
“We (he and his friend) are accustomed to take illicit drugs. He came to our house with heroin and we injected the drug into our bodies. He fainted and I went to the other room and I slept,” the defendant told prosecutors.
“I got shocked when I learned that he died,” he added.
The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood. He bled from a wound in his cheek, but forensic expert ruled out foul play, confirming that he had sustained the injury prior his death.
