Over 95pc students pass first session of Sec Edu exam

Manama: Over 95 per cent of the students passed the exams of the General Certificate of Secondary Education, Minister of Education Dr Majid Al Nuaimi announced yesterday. 

A total of 5,809 students graduated in the first session, at a pass percentage of 95.1 per cent. The success rate in boys’ technical schools reached 90.2 pc.

Dr Al Nuaimi asserted that the success rate was expected to increase in the second session.

The minister was speaking as he approved yesterday the results of the first session of the General Certificate of Secondary Schools, the Secondary Technical Certificate and the Intermediate Certificate.

The results also showed an increase in the number of students who scored 95pc or above. Figures indicated that 472 girls and 163 boys were among top-scoring students.

Regarding the Intermediate Certificate, 78.79pc of the students, or 8,902, passed their exams, compared to a lower 72.35pc during the same session last year.

The minister affirmed that the increased results were the fruitful outcome of the development projects by the Education Ministry during the current academic year.

The students may apply for revaluation until Tuesday, June 14, the Minister added. He noted that schools would provide remedial lessons for students starting Tuesday.

Dr Al Nuaimi thanked the leadership for their unwavering support for the education march in the Kingdom. He also congratulated students and their parents for the outstanding results they had achieved. He commended the tremendous efforts exerted by the schools for preparing results according to schedule.

The second session exams will be held between June 21 and 27.
