Fire erupts at ASRY
Manama: A fire broke out in the refuse collection area of ASRY (Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard) yesterday evening. ASRY Fire Department alerted the Civil Defence, and they put out the flames after three hours.
A detailed investigation by the authorities and ASRY is in progress to ascertain the cause of the incident. There were no injuries or casualties in the incident. The residents of one ASRY building nearby were evacuated to a hotel as a precautionary measure.
“Credit must go to the quick and efficient response of the ASRY Fire & Safety Department as well as Bahrain Civil Defence,” ASRY Chief Executive, Nils Kristian Berge said in a press release. “Their professional and organised procedures brought this incident to a harmless conclusion.”
“We will be investigating the exact cause of the fire in cooperation with appropriate authorities. We’ll do everything we can to ensure that these kind of incidents are prevented in the future,” Berge added.
