Q-finals of Nasser 9 begins today

Manama: The quarter-finals matches of ‘Nasser 9’ Ramadan Football Tournament will begin today with two games taking place at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium. In the first match, Victorious will play Galacticos at 9:00pm, followed by Al Fakhar and Suqoor Al Bahrain at 11:15pm.

Victorious reached quarter-finals stage after securing Group 1 lead, while Galacticos advanced to second place in Group 2. Similarly, Al Fakhar qualified after achieving first place in Group 2. Their opponents were second in Group 1 with five points.

 

Gunners United advance to Quarter-finals

Gunners United progressed from Group 4 to the last-eight stage after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Vista. The latter crashed out after finishing third, while their opposing team concluded the group stage by being perched on top of the group. Gunners went 1-0 ahead in the 26th minutes thanks to Brazilian player Diego. Hassan Redha then doubled this lead in the 40th minute. 

Gunners United were the better side throughout the first half as they dominated with a strong ball possession. They continued this solid display in the next half, but Mohammed Isa Al Tahmazi pulled one back for Vista to bring a tense end to the match. But Gunners United stayed calm and their defensive display in the remaining minutes was equally impressive, it ensured that they collected all the points.

 

Al Zilzal cruise to last eight

Al Zilzal playing in Group 4 booked their spot in the Last 8 following a 3-1 victory over Al Suqoor on Monday.

Abdullah Al Hashash found the net early after only two minutes into the first half, giving Al Zilzal a dream start. As the match was heading into the half-time break, Abdullah Al Hashash struck again to double Al Zilzal’s lead. 

Hashim Saeed put the match beyond the reach of their opposing team, though Yousif Al Sakran pulled one back for Vista in the final minutes. With this win, Al Zilzal finished second in the group, behind Gunners United.

 

Adnan and Sa’ad win best player award

Gunners United player Saleh Adnan stoles the limelight during his match against Vista, as a result of his great display. Mohammed Sa’ad of Al Zilzal also won the award for his outstanding performance against Al Suqoor.

Shaikh Nasser highlighted that the sponsorship of both companies will further pave way to achieve more success and prosperity.

“The sponsorship of Bahrain Jewellery Centre and Behbehani Brothers is commendable, and it proves both firms’ keenness to play an active social role,” Shaikh Nasser noted.

 

Junior football tournament to be held today

A tournament designed for the juniors of local football academies will begin today as part of the second Shaikh Nasser Ramadan Games “Nasser 9” under the patronage of  Shaikh Nasser.

The tournament is composed of two groups, with each having four teams.
