Victorious book semi berth

ManamaVictorious booked their spot in the semi-finals of Nasser 9 Ramadan Football Tournament after a thumping 4-1 victory over Galacticos.

The winners were already favourites into the match, and completely muscled out their opponents in what can only be described as a one-sided game.

Victorious fell behind in the 8th minute after Galacticos Captain Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa scored from a foul kick. But Rashid Jamal, who won the best player of the match, equalised for Victorious in the 21st minute.

Thereafter, the game was one-way as Ahmed Mukhtal fired Victorious ahead with eight minutes before the halftime break.

Mahmood Jassim doubled the winners’ lead after only four minutes into the second half, while Abdullah Al Maliki found the net in the stoppages to sink Galacticos 4-1.

The game began with the ball swinging back and forth between the two halves of the field with both teams attempting to take the lead.

Galacticos struck first and went ahead thanks to a foul kick taken by Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. But Victorious reacted well to this early setback and overcame it in the 21st minute when Rashid Jamal headed home a smart cross.

In the 37th minute, Ahmed Mukhtal added the second for Victorious as Galacticos began fading.

The referee awarded Victorious a penalty-kick in the 49th minute owing to a handball offence, and Jassim Mohammed made no mistake when he stepped up.

Victorious opted to sit back to secure their lead, while Galacticos were pushing to pull one back.

However, substitute Abdullah Al Maliki struck home in the 93rd to make the final result 4-1.

Al Fakhar set for semi-final clash with Victorious

Al Fakhar set to battle Victorious in the semi-final after trashing Suqoor Al Bahrain 5-0.

Starring for the team were Mahdi Humaidan and Hussain Salman who netted two goals each to steer Al Fakhar to a deserved victory.

The fifth goal was scored by Abdulrasool Mirza. The score was somehow harsh on Suqoor Al Bahrain who created several scoring opportunities, but missed on the final and decisive finishing touch to slot home.
