Cops murder attempt : Court jails defendants
Manama : Thirteen defendants accused in connection with an attempted murder case have been jailed to 15 years each. Twenty-two other defendants, also accused in the same case, were given three years each in prison, but five men were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
The defendants were implicated in connection with attacking an armed police vehicle in Diraz village with firebombs.
Two police officers were injured after the vehicle caught fire.
The defendants were charged with possessing firebombs, attempted murder, injuring two police officers, rioting and participating in an illegal gathering.
Their accusations were based on witnesses’ testimonies, the defendants’ confessions and the forensic reports.
