Jail sentence upheld in riot case
Manama: The Supreme Appeals Court upheld the sentence issued against a 25-year-old Bahraini accused of rioting. The defendant was earlier sentenced to five years in prison after his involvement in the sabotage acts in Ghuraifa had been established.
Around 50 saboteurs took part in the riot, burning tyres, pelting firebombs and iron rods at police officers. A police officer got injured as a result of the attack.
The suspect was charged with attacking police officers, arson, causing damage to a public property, participating in an illegal gathering, possessing firebombs and disrupting traffic.
