Impostor gets one year in jail
Manama: The Lower Criminal Court sentenced a man to one year behind bars after being found guilty of pretending to be an inspector in the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
He was, however, granted BD300 bail. The defendant is said to have visited a textile retail shop and told the Asian employee in the outlet that he was an inspector in the LMRA.
He informed him that many infringements were recorded against the shop and he was ready to settle them in return of money.
The employee told his sponsor who called the man and met him, and he offered him the same. The owner of the shop then headed to the LMRA, where he informed them about the man.
But to his shock, he was told that the man wasn’t an employee in the LMRA. Thus, he went to the police and filed a complaint against him. The defendant was held guilty on grounds of fraud.
