Shaikh Salman pitches for greater biz ties with Russia

MoscowOn behalf of Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Advisor to Prime Minister, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa participated in the 20th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2016). held in St. Petersburg city from June 16 to 18. The event was held under the patronage of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Shaikh Salman met, on the sidelines of the forum, the Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg, Oleg Markov, and discussed with him ways to boost cooperation between the two friendly countries at all levels.

He expressed the Kingdom’s keenness in broadening areas of cooperation with Russia in all fields, especially the economic, trade and investment ones, given the solid outstanding ties binding the two countries.

He affirmed that Bahraini-Russian relations are progressing steadily, thanks to the two countries’ mutual respect, understanding vis-à-vis many regional and global issues, and shared keenness on building constructive and fruitful cooperation ties.

He stressed that the invitation to the Prime Minister to attend SPIEF 2016 reflects the solid bilateral ties.

Shaikh Salman also held a meeting with the Bank of Russia Governor, Elivra Nabiullna, and expressed Bahrain’s interest in activating the agreements with Russia to increase the volume of bilateral trade. The meeting also touched upon ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in the financial and banking fields, as well as other economic and investment fields. 

St.Petersburg Vice-Governor and Bank of Russia Governor praised the advanced level of the Bahraini-Russian relation in many sectors.

Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Governor Rasheed Al-Maraj and Bahrain’s Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Al-Sa’ati attended the two meetings.
