Bahrain’s F1 expertise contributes to success of Grand Prix of Europe

Manama: Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, yesterday congratulated the Bahraini F1 delegation on their contribution to the organisation of the brand-new Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe, in Baku city, Azerbaijan.

HRH Crown Prince held a telephonic conversation with the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) Chairman and Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) President, Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa in this regard. The Bahraini F1 delegation consisted of 250 individuals. 

Prince Salman noted that for over 12 years Bahrainis had delivered a spectacular F1 event in the Kingdom, which has rapidly become one of the  biggest sporting events in the region. 

HRH Crown Prince also highlighted the significant contribution made by Bahrain’s youth in showcasing Kingdom’s reputation for developing motorsports.

According to him, Bahrain takes great pride in contributing to the organisation and management of F1 races across the world. 

“Baku’s F1 Grand Prix of Europe marks the third time a Bahraini F1 delegation has contributed to an international F1 event.”

Meanwhile, Shaikh Abdulla expressed his gratitude to Crown Prince’s on-going support to the Kingdom’s F1 organisers. 

He highlighted that the Crown Prince’s commitment to develop F1 organisers provide young Bahrainis opportunities for skills development. 

Officials praise delegation

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said it made him proud to see Bahraini marshals and race officials showcasing the best of Bahraini motorsport at new Formula One events around the world. 

“It is a reflection of the Bahrainis’ ability to successfully stage world-class international events.”

Formula One Group Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone said that Bahrain is known for the high level of efficiency and professionalism in the organisation and management of international motor racing events. 

Ecclestone added that the Bahrainis’ selection for Baku was the right choice, as their assistance ensured the grand success of the city’s inaugural Formula One event.

Meanwhile, Formula One Race Director Charlie Whiting commented: “They are doing a really good job, very pleased with how things are going.”
