Asian man gets jail for smuggling
Manama: An Asian man was sentenced to three years in prison for smuggling heroin into Bahrain. The defendant was also fined BD500 for his crime. It’s said that the defendant hid the heroin in fashion fabric and then extracted it using chemicals.
He managed to enter the Kingdom with it, but a police tip-off revealed that he was in possession of the drugs with the intention of distributing them in Bahrain.
The police found several pieces of clothes containing heroin during a raid in his house. They were hidden in a plastic bag and kept in an air-conditioner hole.
The defendant will be expelled from Bahrain once he completes his jail term.
