Citi celebrates Global Community Day

Manama: Citi celebrated its 11th annual Global Community Day, as more than 70 Citi volunteers in Bahrain joined tens of thousands of colleagues, family and friends in 92 countries and territories to engage in service activities in their local communities.

In the days leading up to and including Global Community Day, Citi volunteers will have participated in more than 1,400 service projects ranging from urban revitalization to literacy and education, career readiness, environmental conservation and disaster relief.

In the Middle East and Africa, the “e3 - educate, empower, engage” campaign brought together 4,000 Citi volunteers across 23 countries in the region, to empower youth through education and training.

In Bahrain, Citi partnered with the Good Word Society and donated 100 school bags that were filled with books, kits and items for low income families’ children to benefit from. Usman Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Citi Bahrain commented: “The region wide initiative this year has placed more emphasis on employees’ participation and we are proud to have donated 100 school bags packed with necessary school items by our employees.”
