Parliament's new administrative building completed
Manama : Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning ministry has handed over the parliament's' new administrative building in Gudaibiya to the Council's Secretary-General, Abdullah bin Khalaf Al Dosari.
Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Projects & Maintenance Al Motawa explained that the project falls within the Government’s policy aiming to provide high quality services, enhance the performance of members of the Council of Representatives and provide a suitable environment that supports all such objectives. The project has been implemented in line with the standard specifications adopted by the Ministry in all projects, especially those related to green buildings and saving energy.
Al Dosari extended thanks to the Ministry for their efforts in the project, which fulfils the needs of the Council and accommodates 150 employees representing the General Secretariat Directorate. Al Dosari also extended thanks to Chairman of the Council for his constant support to the General Secretariat.
The BD1,542,000 project comprises of a ground floor and three other floors covering an area of 3232m2.
The third floor was added to the building in response to a request from the Council of Representatives. The ground floor consists of a reception area, 4 main conference halls and related facilities, while the 3 other floors contain administrative offices and all other facilities and services. The new building has been connected to the old building with a bridge that allows easy mobility between the two buildings. The new building maintains the architectural design of the old building and is equipped with all mechanical and electrical services, in addition to the information technology and security systems.
The Assistant Secretary-General of Resources & Corporate Services Yasser Al Shirawi and a number of engineers from the Ministry attended the ceremony.
