Bahrain’s security and people’s safety among top priorities

Manama: The security of the Kingdom and the safety of its people are top priorities, said Interior Minister Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

“Now, it is time for unity and cohesion, and there is no room for sowing divide or extremism. Citizenship entails rights and duties that everyone should take into account. No one is above the law or unaccountable,” he added.

The Minister was speaking during a joint Executive-Legislature meeting hosted by the Council of Representatives yesterday.

The Interior Minister chaired the Executive Branch’s side, which also comprised the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Labour and Social Development Jameel Humaidan, Shura Council and Parliament Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain, as well as a number of officials and representatives of security bodies.

Shaikh Rashid lauded the role played by the Council of Representatives in cementing national unity. He stressed that the current phase requires strengthening the internal front to consolidate security, protect national gains and confront challenges.

He updated the meeting about the latest security developments, as well as the measures taken so far to maintain security and stability. “The Ministry will continue to take necessary measures against law-breakers.”

In his address, the Justice Minister briefed about the measures taken by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry against the organisations that are affiliated with external religious references.

“Such organisations, which  breach the Constitution and the Law, target the social fabric and the unity of the people of Bahrain,” he remarked.

According to  Jameel Humaidan, the organisations, which had been dissolved recently, not only breached the law, but also violated their own by-laws. He called on all the associations that are affiliated with his Ministry to abide by the law and all the regulations governing their administrative and financial work.
