Bahrain MP spread wife's explicit photo : Appeal rejected

Manama : A court withdrew from hearing the appeal of an MP convicted of spreading a scandalous image of his wife, citing embarrassment.

Earlier, the MP was sentenced to three months in jail for publishing an explicit image of his ex-wife as well as beating her up.

According to court files, the woman filed a complaint accusing him of circulating the image to her father, brother and her son through a different man. He attached the image with insults against her and her son.

The MP was also charged with robbery, as the woman and her mother told prosecutors that he had broken into their house and stole three watches, including a Rolex watch worth BD 4,000 and a laptop.

The Lower Criminal Court had fined the MP with BD 150. The court set his bail at BD 200, pending the outcome of his appeal. The defendant, however, is under parliamentary immunity.
