FB page ad offers sale of marijuana in Bahrain

Manama : A few Facebook pages are offering sale of illicit drug marijuana in Bahrain. According to an ad that was posted on several Bahraini-operated Facebook pages, quality medical marijuana is for available sale at best prices. The ad claims that marijuana cures cancer and other chronic diseases.

“We do have all kind of medical marijuana that relieves stress and also cures cancer,” the ad showed. 

The seller posted, “We have different types for sale, including og kush, cannabis, dope, hash, weed, spliff, green, blackberry kush, hashih, opium, heroin and many others.  Contact me for more information regarding your choice.”

The seller’s location on the Global Positioning System (GPS) showed that he/she is located in Kuwait. However, the ad was posted on a Bahraini page and the people interacting with it were Bahrain-based.

The person also asks those interested to send personal messages for more details and information.

An expert confirmed to DT News that the sale of medical marijuana is illegal, not only in the Kingdom, but the entire GCC region. “Selling or promoting drugs will attract jail terms of six months to 10 years.” 

However, the expert added that “the post could be some sort of an online bluff, which is frequent nowadays, especially on Facebook.”
