BCCI vows to revive old markets
Manama : The old markets committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has pledged to continue its strides to revive the old markets.
The decision was taken during a recent meeting held in Bait Al Tijjar presided over by first vice-chairman and committee head Khalid Alzayani.
Alzayani reaffirmed the committee’s intention to hold meetings with its counterparts in the GCC countries and exchange experiences to develop and revive old markets. During the meeting, the committee vowed to eliminate obstacles curbing their development with the help of relevant bodies in Bahrain.
The panel also revealed that the renovated old markets are not to compete with shopping malls, but stand on their own as distinctive tourist attractions and shopping destinations with their unique identity and cultural ambience.
