Gulf Air selects Alfa Express Company for recycling drive

ManamaAs part of Gulf Air’s ongoing mission to be a socially responsible entity, Bahrain’s national carrier has selected Alfa Express Company for its waste management and recycling drive.

The two companies entered into an agreement recently allowing Gulf Air to avail of recycling services from Alfa Express Company to eliminate and dispose of the organisation’s waste papers, plastic bottles, aluminium cans and cardboard.

This initiative is in line with Gulf Air’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy to participate actively in green initiatives, minimise the airline’s impact on the environment while promoting sustainability and acting as a role model to other organisations.

At a signing ceremony held at the airline’s Muharraq headquarters Mohammed Amin Hulaiwah, Gulf Air Director Corporate Affairs & Communications Board Secretary, and Dr. Jassim Haji, Gulf Air Director Information Technology, signed the agreement with Fadhel Al Maskati, Alfa Express Company Managing Director.

Gulf Air said it is committed to ensuring its operations deliver positive environmental impact. Most recently, the airline rolled out its new generation iPad Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) to all pilots in a move that provides them with fully digitised, real-time access to all operational information inflight, enhancing efficiency while reducing paper usage and delivering cost savings.
