Four rioters get three years in jail
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced four defendants to three years behind bars for rioting. The defendants are said to have carried out sabotage acts in the village of Barhama on November 11 last year.
According to court files, they set two water tanks as well as tyres on fire. The first defendant, who was wearing a facemask, was nabbed at the scene while trying to flee.
The other rioters managed to run away. But they were arrested following a police investigation. The first defendant revealed during interrogation that the second defendant had invited him to take part in the riot.
“We all carried the tanks and placed them on the roads. The fourth defendant poured oil on them and torched,” he explained. The defendants were charged with setting items on fire and participating in an illegal gathering.
