Terror activities: Citizenship of two men revoked

ManamaThe citizenship of two Bahraini defendants will be revoked by the High Criminal Court for committing terrorist acts as part of Al Wafa Al Islami Stream. The Stream is linked to the terrorist group the February 14 Youth Coalition.

According to the court verdict, one of the defendants was given a heavy jail term of 10 years in prison, while another defendant, who is below 18 years old, was handed down three years jail sentence.

The duo are said to have been part of Al Wafa Al Islami Stream, for which they committed sabotage acts, including detonating a gas cylinder in Al Qadam on January 22 this year. According to court files, the first defendant received BD100 from foreigners, who instructed him to buy a gas cylinder and detonate it. He reportedly purchased the cylinder for BD30 and kept rest of the money with him.

He was helped by the teenager. They have reportedly set three tyres as well as the gas cylinder on fire. Their involvement in the incident was established via police investigations. The first defendant confirmed during interrogation his involvement in the crime. He also revealed that he had been taking part in the February 14 Youth’s riots since 2013. He confessed that he had detonated the bomb after receiving a request from a stranger on his BlackBerry phone.

The duo was found guilty of carrying out terrorist acts as well as arson and detonating a gas cylinder.
