Bahrain bids teary farewell to Feras Mohammed

Manama : A three-year-old Egyptian boy, who was found dead inside a parked car in Hidd, was buried yesterday at a cemetery in Muharraq.

Feras Mohammed Ahmed had gone out to play with his friends in his neighbourhood on Monday evening and did not return home. Since the boy was missing after 6pm, his parents had filed a complaint at the local police station.

The body of the child was found in the boot of a car parked near a shopping centre in Hidd on Tuesday morning.

It is said that the child entered the car’s boot, and it got locked by accident. An appeal to locate the boy was circulating on social media till news of his death was announced.

Mystery

The preliminary report indicates suffocation as the cause of death and there were no signs of injuries or violence on the body. Meanwhile the child’s death has still left several questions unanswered.

(1) Did the car arrive after the death of the child or did he suffocate inside it?

(2) How did a three-year-old manage to jump inside the boot of a car?

(3) How did the boy manage to open the boot since the car’s owner had accompanied the boy's father to report the disappearance and had testified the boot was closed at all times and could only have been opened with a key or from inside the car?

(4) Why didn't the child cry or scream after being stuck inside the car? If he did, then how come no one heard him?

We hope these doubts that fuel the mystery behind Feras’s death shall be solved soon.

Flashback

Meanwhile, a pharmacist, the boy’s neighbour, noticed a foul smell from a car parked at the shopping centre’s parking area. He alerted the locals in the area and the police.

An eyewitness told DT News that the body was found around 9am.

“My friend (the pharmacist) called me around 9am. He said he sensed a stench in a car parked next to the pharmacy,” he said. “He was devastated after finding the dead boy.”

“The father of the child was informed immediately. It is not clear how the boy got into the car boot. People say that the boot might have been left open by mistake. The boy, who was playing around, might have got inside,” he added.

Probe launched

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution launched an investigation into the death of Feras Mohammed.
