Govornment provided 120k housing services : PM

ManamaA total of 120,000 housing services, costing BD3.5 billion, have been provided by the government since the beginning of government-funded housing services, said Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Highlighting the government’s landmark achievements in the housing sector, the Prime Minister expressed the government’s delight for providing houses to more than 65pc of Bahraini families by building 34,000 housing units. 

The government has distributed 12,000 housing lots, granted 65,000 housing loans, provided 5,000 temporary flats and 3,500 owned flat since it began delivering housing services across the Kingdom’s villages and towns.

Prince Khalifa revealed the details during a work meeting on housing issues here yesterday. Chairing the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need to expedite the implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to build 40,000 housing units. 

The Premier also expressed satisfaction over the government housing pledges included in its action plan, which envisages building about 25,000 housing units. 

In the meeting, the Minister of Housing, Basim Alhamer, gave a presentation in which he highlighted the housing projects across the Kingdom.

The presentation included statistics regarding the housing achievements of the government, under the chairmanship of HRH Premier, and the role of the government’s efforts in ensuring social stability.
