Al Wefaq Society case: Court postpones hearing to July 4
Manama : The High Civil Court has adjourned hearing the case filed by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, against Al Wefaq Islamic Society until July 4 for review as the latter’s defence announced withdrawal from it.
The Minister had filed the case against Al Wefaq, requesting for it to be dissolved on grounds of the society’s continued acts against the Kingdom of Bahrain and its interests.
The hearing of the case was held yesterday after the Ministry of Justice filed an appeal to reschedule the initial hearing, scheduled on September 4. Three consultants representing the State were present in the hearing, and as many to defend Al Wefaq.
The State representatives requested the judges to adjourn the hearing of the case for the closing arguments and the verdict. They cited that the Society had continued calling for foreign interference into the Kingdom’s affairs as well as prejudicing the local judiciary system and encouraging violence.
