Government take action against used car sale on roads

ManamaThe Capital has become a haven for selling used cars that are accumulating with time due to the neglect of car owners, said Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa.

“It has negatively affected the refined and aesthetic appearance of the areas,” he noted, and added that the Capital will take measures to reduce the selling of cars on streets and tighten control over contractors by cooperating with concerned authorities.

Shaikh Hisham made the remarks during a field visit in the Capital yesterday. Capital General Secretariat’s Director-General Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Head of the Capital Secretariat Council Mohammed Al Khuzai and other officials were also present.

They inspected the phenomenon of cars being displayed for sale in Juffair. Besides, they also inspected buildings being constructed without fences.

The Governor assured concerted efforts between the Capital Governorate and the Manama Municipality to penalise those who sell used cars on the roads.

He stressed the cooperation in this matter in following the rules and regulations in order to reduce this phenomenon to serve the good for the public.

Shaikh Hisham also inspected under construction buildings without fences. Due to lack of fences, the construction materials are placed on roads obstructing the traffic.

“The governorate will follow up this with its coordinating council in accordance with standard procedure,” he added.
