Bahraini man charged for sheltering fugitive

Manama : A Bahraini man has been charged with providing shelter to a fugitive, who tried to flee to Iran. According to court files, the fugitive contacted the accused and requested him to sell his car for BD1,000 to find money to flee to Iran.

The man managed to sell  the vehicle for BD1,600 and handed over the money to the fugitive.

“After I gave him the money, he requested me to register a boat under my name to evade suspicions of the Ministry of Interior. I accepted to register it under my name since I wasn’t implicated in any case. After the procedures were completed, I sent him a photo of the ownership,” the accused told prosecutors.

“He contacted me later to transport him to the place, where the boat was berthed. But on our way, we received a call informing that the boat had already left with other fugitives. So we decided to go back,” he explained. But later the Bahraini man was landed in police net.
