Bahrain elected UN child rights member
New York : Bahraini Amal Salman Al-Dosary has been elected as independent expert at the United Nations (UN) Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) for a four-year term (2017-2021).
UN member states, parties to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, convened in New York and elected nine members out of 17 candidates to replace the incumbent ones whose term will expire in February 2017.
Bahrain’s election as member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) reflects international confidence in the Kingdom, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
The UN committee membership represents another victory for Bahraini diplomacy and confirmation of the ability of national competences to work at all international panels and watchdogs concerned with human and child rights.
