NICOP Renewal Centre goes live
Manama : Pakistan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Javed Malik will open the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) renewal Centre on the Pakistan Club premises today.
The first of its kind facility would be opened outside the Pakistan Embassy, where the community could apply for the renewal of their NICOP.
The Club has established a dedicated terminal to process the applications and the volunteers are being trained by the official of Ministry of Interior Government of Pakistan. They would be trained to handle and process applications through National Database and Registration Authority.
Malik during his first visit to the Pakistan Club had promised to serve the community more effectively through an active participation.
“This move is considered as an implementation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision to reach out to people. This would utilise the available state-of-the-art facilities for the renewal of the NICOP and passports with an active participation of the private sector,” a press release said.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Club, Mahmood Rafique Chaudhary thanked Malik and assured full support for his initiatives.
“We have opened this non-profit centre keeping in mind the labour class who can’t afford to pay for such services. The club would function at flexible timings so that people can avail services without taking a leave from the work,” Rafique informed.
Currently, there are thousands of NICOP cards pending to be processed due to the limited resources and a huge workload. The embassy has been planning to open similar facilities on the Pakistan School and the Pakistan Urdu School premises to cater to the needs.
“We hope with such initiatives there will be no delays and backlogs in future,” he added.
