Bahrain bids farewell to Ramadan the traditional way!
Manama : Bahrainis bid farewell to the Holy Month of Ramadan by reviving a deep-rooted Bahraini tradition in different areas of Bahrain last night.
Al Weda’a (goodbye in Arabic) is a traditional activity held on the last nights of Ramadan by the people of Bahrain since hundreds of years.
It includes singing traditional and religious chants, while roaming the alleys and roads of each area.
This tradition has been slowly vanishing from some of the areas of the Kingdom, but not in Galali, Budaiya, Jasra, Hoora, Muharraq, Umm Al Hassam and Isa Town, where residents are keen on annually reviving this custom which was passed on from one generation to another.
These pictures were taken from Al Weda’a activities in Isa Town yesterday. It was noticed that Bahrainis of all age groups were happy to take part in the “goodbye to the holy month, despite the humid weather.
Some were singing and playing on the traditional drums, others repeated after the main singers, while the younger genberations were too busy filming videos and snapping pictures, and posting it all over the different social media networks.
