Three unhygienic food depots shut down in Sitra
Manama : The authorities have shut down three foodstuff warehouses in Sitra for storing food items in unhygienic conditions and commercial fraud.
In a statement, Consumer Protection Directorate in Industry and Commerce Ministry said, “the production dates of expired items were removed from the packages with an intention to mix it with other items and sell it in the local market.”
Food products were seized along with bags, containers, stamps and machineries used for packaging.
The directorate also confirmed that the people responsible were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The operation, which falls within the legal responsibility of the directorate, was done in cooperation with Public Health Directorate in Health Ministry.
