Kinder products in Bahrain is safe : Health Ministry
Manama : Health authorities yesterday confirmed that Kinder chocolate products in Bahrain markets were safe.
Health Ministry’s Public Health Director Dr Mariam Al Hajery denied the rumours circulating on social media networks that Kinder chocolates were not safe and would pose risks to consumers’ health.
This information was also reported by western media, which claimed that “health authorities in Germany and other States have withdrawn all Kinder products from the market after being proved unhealthy”.
“What has been attributed to the European health authorities is baseless,” Al Hajery said in a press statement, adding that “health authorities in the GCC have not been notified about any detrimental effect of these products.”
She said, “Communications have been made with the concerned authorities in Germany. It confirmed that no such procedures have been taken there and no products have been withdrawn from the market.”
Meanwhile the ministry has called upon the public through its official Twitter page to not follow unverified information and spread rumours that may cause concern among consumers.
The ministry’s statements came in reply to posts on social media claiming that Kinder products were withdrawn from German markets owing to the presence of ingredients in them that may cause cancer.
