Over 250k Saudis to visit Bahrain
Manama : More than 250,000 Saudi tourists are expected to enter Bahrain this week, Tourism and Exhibitions Authority CEO Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa said.
In an interview with a Saudi journal Al Eqtisadiya, he said that more than 6.6 million Saudi tourists entered Bahrain during 2015 and more than 50 per cent of tourists entering Bahrain were Saudis.
“Bahrain and Saudi Arabia share the same border and the tourists entering here would enjoy warm welcoming from Bahrainis. We’re also working on several projects and entertainment activities that our visitors look forward to,” Shaikh Khalid stated.
According to the publication, Saudi’s most favourite holiday destination is the Turkish capital Istanbul. However, the journal also mentioned that thousands of Saudis have cancelled their flights to Turkey, following the deadly terrorist attack on Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul two weeks ago, killing 41 people and injuring more than 250 others.
The report added that Bahrain and Dubai have been the choice for Saudi tourists during this year’s Eid Al Fitr holidays.
