Eight public parks, walkways underway

ManamaNorthern Governorate will have eight new public parks and walkways this year, according to an official from Urban Planning Ministry.

Total cost of the project is estimated to be more than BD2 million and atleast four is expected to open to public within a few weeks. 

Joint Municipal Works Assistant Undersecretary at Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry Raed Al Salah said in a press statement yesterday that the project would include gardens, parks and walkways in different parts of the governorate.

“These projects come within the Ministry’s scheme to increase green landscapes in the Kingdom and improve its urban planning.

 “The Ministry is concerned about beautifying public squares and parks, as it plays a major role in preserving environmental balance in the Kingdom,” Al Salah said.

“The Ministry had recently completed four projects that will be opened for the public within the next few weeks. They include Al Hoor Garden, which will be opened soon in Hamad Town. It will cost around BD500,000.

Another garden will be opened in at the same time in Buquwa village, including facilities such as children’s playgrounds and a walkway,” he explained.

The official added that similar projects would be opened in the next couple of months in different areas of the governorate, such as Al Lawzi in Hamad Town, Buri and Bani Jamrah.
