Bahrain to sign contracts at Farnborough Airshow

ManamaBahrain is expected to sign contracts this week with international companies that wish to join the 2018 Bahrain International airshow.

A Bahrain delegation will visit the United Kingdom to attend the Farnborough Airshow where they are expected to sign more than $1 billion in contracts. 

About 12 companies, who have already shown interest in joining the show, is expected to meet with the delegation. 

Senior officials from Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Bahrain International Airport and Gulf Air are part of the delegation travelling to the UK. 

“BAE Systems, Qatar Airways, Rolls-Royce, DHL, Serco, Boeing, Kallman, Lockheed Martin and cargo charter operator Texel Air are expected to sign contracts to participate in BIAS 2018. Bahrain’s Transportation Ministry will sign a $2.5 million contract appointing Farnborough International to organise the next two editions of the BIAS, extending a partnership that started with the first Bahrain airshow in 2010.” Aviation International News reported.

Due to the rapid growth of the show, the dates of Bahrain International Airshow 2018 have been moved by 10 months to November 14-16, 2018. 

“The date change was extremely well received by participants when we announced it at the close of BIAS 2016,” said Amanda Stainer, Farnborough International Limited (FIL) commercial director.
