Court rejects Bahraini man's lawsuit against GDNPR

ManamaThe High Administrative Court rejected the lawsuit filed by a Bahraini man against the General Directorate of Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs to force it to issue a stay visa for his Arab national wife.

The defendant got married to the woman in 2015, but failed to get her a stay permit in Bahrain.

As a result, he sued the GDNPR after no legal explanation was given to him to justify the decision of not allowing his wife to stay in the Kingdom.

But the court highlighted in its ruling that the GDNPR’s decision was within its capacity and authority, which it exercises in line with what is dictated by considerations of public interests.

It also indicated that state has the right to welcome and reject any foreign guests without being forced to provide any explanation to its decision in accordance with the local laws.
