Kabali arrives in Bahrain cinemas

Manama : The wait is over. The much-anticipated Indian film ‘Kabali’ will hit theatres in Bahrain today.

It stars the cultural icon of Indian cinema Rajinikanth, who is also one of the highest-paid actors.

The film had created tremendous hype in the pre-production stages. 

Rajinikanth who has a legion of fans across India and abroad, the new film is crucial after the debacle of his previous flick ‘Lingaa.’  

The frenzy is so much that social media has been inundated with pictures of fans showing off luxury cars, clothing and merchandise bearing posters of the movie.

News of Air Asia launching a special airplane, also bearing posters of the movie, dedicated to fans to watch the film’s premiere went viral.

Some of the icons from the international film industry came together for the movie.

The film stars Rajinikanth as the title character, whilst Taiwanese actor Winston Chao, Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan, and John Vijay star in other pivotal roles.

The director of the movie is Pa. Ranjith, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, music director Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography G Murali  and distribution Gemini Film Circuit. In the movie, which runs for two hours and 32 minutes , Rajinikanth plays Kabali,  the role of an aged crime boss.

The movie costing Rs1billion (around 5.7 million BD), and was released at an estimated 3000+ screens worldwide.

Reports about some Indian companies granting leave to their employees to watch the movie even caught the attention of international media outlets like the BBC.

Movie buffs here thronged theatres yesterday to buy tickets in advance. According to Bahrain Cinema Company (Cineco) Chief Operating Officer Sunil Balan tickets for today and tomorrow were sold out by yesterday evening. A fan, who preferred anonymity, said he was on his way back after buying the last six tickets available for Friday from Al Hamra Cinema.
