Court reduce jail term of Asian woman
Manama : The jail term of a Thai woman, who was accused of drug peddling, has been reduced to three years. Earlier, the court had slapped her with five years imprisonment.
According to the court files, the woman was arrested following a tip-off that she had been selling drugs in Manama.
The police then assigned an undercover agent to nab her red-handed in a sting operation. The agent in plain clothes contacted the woman and requested shabu for BD100. He also agreed to meet her in Hoora on February 22.
When she completed the transaction, police officers followed her. Later, they raided her apartment and seized four sachets of shabu. The defendant, however, denied selling drugs, but admitted to consumption.
