Court reduce fugitives hiding convicts jail term
Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court has reduced the sentences of two defendants, who were convicted of hiding wanted fugitives, to six months each.
They were earlier handed down two years of imprisonment each.
The two defendants had provided safe haven to four fugitives, who were implicated in security cases. They reportedly provided food and beverages to the wanted criminals.
The crime came to light after the Criminal Investigation Department received a
tip-off about them. The fugitives were caught in a raid conducted by the security forces.
According to the court documents, remand orders were already issued against three of the fugitives while they were on the run. The remaining fugitive, however, is facing an arrest warrant.
