MP blames UK for assault on Bahrain Embassy

parliamentarian yesterday blamed British authorities for the recent assault on the Bahraini Embassy in London.

The incident happened because “they (UK authorities) failed to fulfil their duties,” said MP Jamal Buhassan.

His statements came after a person wanted in Bahrain, who’s offered asylum in the UK, recently posted a picture of controversial cleric Isa Qassim on Bahrain’s official logo at the Kingdom’s London embassy.

The lawmaker, who is the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee member, urged the British authorities to protect the Bahraini embassy there as per international diplomatic norms.

Buhassan condemned and described the acts as works of “traitors of Bahrain and mercenaries of Iran” against the Kingdom abroad.

DT News reported last November that individuals  -- who are wanted for terrorist and criminal charges in Bahrain and residing in the UK -- have assaulted Bahraini officials and citizens in London.

Some videos uploaded online showed that wanted individuals in the UK have verbally assaulted the Ambassador of Bahrain to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and other senior state officials who were in London back then.

Britain had promised back then to take necessary measures against the violators.
