Muharraq gets first-of-its-kind Hanging Garden in Bahrain

Manama :  first-of-its-kind ‘Hanging Garden’ in the Kingdom was opened in Muharraq yesterday.

The garden, located in the Fifth Constituency of the Governorate in Halat Bu Maher Block 216, was inaugurated by Works Ministry’s Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs Dr. Nabil Mohammed Abu
Al Fath.

Al Fath said the Ministry is keen to implement development projects of the Muharraq municipal council considering their role in promoting sustainable urban development for local residents.

He explained that the garden project, which costs BD320,000, has used the land optimally with the garden area covering 1,453 square metre. 

It has a range of recreational and environmental elements that creates a family atmosphere. There is a children’s play area that takes safety into account as well as a parking space that can accommodate 40 cars. 

The building also houses a cafeteria, toilets and walkways linking various sections of the park. Besides, the park is equipped with benches, different kinds of trees, shaded family areas and a water fountain. 

Director General of Muharraq Municipality Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Muharraq Municipal Council Chairman Mohammed Al Sinan, Works Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Municipal Services Raed Al Salah, member of the municipal council of Muharraq Ghazi Mirbati and a number of officials in the ministry attended the ceremony.
