Murder: Man’s detention renewed by 15 days

Manama:  Bahraini man accused of murdering his girlfriend over a dispute has had his detention renewed by 15 days for investigations.

The crime came to light after the 29-year-old man called for an ambulance after beating the 26-year-old woman to death at his family-owned house.

The duo allegedly used to consume drugs together.

“I told her to buy BD2,800 worth shabu from one of her friends, who was a drug dealer. We went in my car to bring the drugs, but her friend asked to pay first,” the defendant said.

The defendant’s girlfriend as well as the peddler fled as soon as he gave the money. Later, his girlfriend returned with one gram of shabu instead of 30 grams as per the agreement.

This infuriated him and he slapped her twice and she fell down motionless, he said. However, he is believed to have beaten the woman with a plank.
