Bahrain authorities demolish 260 illegal beach cabins

Manama : Several cabins perched illegally on the coastlines of Hidd and Dry Dock area have been removed by authorities to increase public access.

A total of 260 illegal cabins, which were being used as rest and storerooms, were removed from the coastlines in the last few days, announced the Muharraq Municipal authority.  Some of the fisherman’s cabins were found abandoned by their owners.

“The cabins violated Kingdom’s laws and regulations. Some of them were even stocked with highly flammable substances, producing grave threat to the people and property around,” the statement said.

“Article 1 of Law 20 of 1996 prohibits utilising public beaches and coasts, especially those near coastal towns and villages, for private purposes,” the statement warned.

The authority has also urged public to report any such violations in Muharraq through the unified system for government complaints (Tawasul) hotline 80008001 or through the municipality’s social media accounts and complaints department 17350043.
