Chinese cultural centre to be set up

ManamaA Chinese cultural centre, which is also the first of its kind in the region, is set to be opened in Bahrain.

Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and China’s Ministry of Culture signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this end, yesterday.

The MoU was inked as BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa received Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain Qi Zhenhong yesterday.

Shaikha Mai lauded the constant cultural cooperation with China, stressing that the deal will open a new window on Asia.

She added that the Centre will further consolidate relations between the countries and boost Chinese cultural presence in the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador thanked Shaikha Mai for her efforts to promote cultural cooperation between the two countries. Zhenhong stressed that choosing Bahrain as the home to the Centre stems from a strong belief in the Kingdom’s ability to foster cultural  exchanges between countries of the Middle East and the Far East.
