Illegal centre for the disabled shut down
Manama : An unauthorised disabled care centre was shut down by the authorities yesterday as several violations were detected at the facility during surprise inspections.
In a statement, Labour and Social Development Ministry said that the unlicensed centre had offered disabled care services violating the rules and regulations of the Kingdom.
“During the inspection visits, several violations related to the safety and security of the visitors of the centre were found. The ministry decided to shut down the facility and refer the owner to the Public Prosecution,” the ministry stated without naming the centre. “Necessary measures have been taken to secure the disabled children at the centre.”
The ministry added that a team was formed to supervise the dissolving process of the centre and ensure providing the necessary services to its clients.
It also called upon parents of the people with disabilities to ensure that the centres they visit are licensed institutions.
