MP calls for clarity, details from ministers

ManamaIn an implicit reference to lack of transparency, an MP has called for a detail presentation of the latest achievements before the Parliament by the ministers.

MP Mohammed Al Maarifi has recently called upon ministers to reveal their accomplishments and the work progress of the projects mentioned in the Government Action Plan (GAP), which was presented to the Council of Representatives last year.

“The parliament has approved the GAP and the details of the projects of each ministry should be explained before MPs in detail. The accomplishments and the progress percentage of ministries’ projects should be announced,” Al Maarifi stated, noting to the upcoming discussion of the State public budget in the Council in the next session of the current Legislative Term, which is expected to commence in September.

He added: “They should also present their future plans and schemes so it could be studied and approved by the MPs.”

Al Maarifi’s statements followed the announcement of Electricity and Water Affairs Ministry’s latest accomplishments, future plans and the challenges it faces. It was made by Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza, who announced that 70 per cent of the ministry’s projects were completed.
